Muttis Kuchen
ドイツ菓子工房 ムッティスクーヘン
Take home distinctive German bakes, including Engadine tart filled with nuts and caramel and Blechkuchen with plums and marzipan. Meet Muttis Kuchen in Sangenjaya.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
For a rich combination of nuts and caramel, the Engadine tart at Muttis Kuchen is one to look out for. Visitors have described versions filled with nuts and caramel, as well as one with caramelised walnuts wrapped in biscuit dough and mixed with sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Choose it for its toasty, nutty flavour, or take home a few different bakes and try them side by side.
If you prefer a little fruit acidity, plum Blechkuchen is another possibility. One version, made with marzipan, left a strong impression on a visitor, who noted the balance between the plums’ gentle tartness and the sponge layered on top. On another day, someone bought Blechkuchen with marzipan and tangy apricots. The selection can vary, making it enjoyable to see what cakes and bakes are on offer when you arrive.
For cake, one visitor picked up Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte topped with cherries. They described the sponge and cream as mild in flavour, with a faint aroma of alcohol. Stollen is another seasonal treat that some look forward to around Christmas.
The shop mainly sells its bakes to take away. One account describes a small counter in the garden of a house in a residential neighbourhood. As the selection may change from day to day, it suits a visit to choose a few tempting things and enjoy them at home.
